Becky's Schedule of Cool Music Stuff - January 2000
Hi there,
I hope everyone is having an entertaining holiday season. If you haven't
already, you should take the time you have off from work/school to see
some live shows!
I want to apologize to everyone who got multiple copies of Becky's
Schedule of Cool Music Stuff last month. There was a problem with the
mail and some of you received 2 and 3 copies of the schedule. Hopefully
the problem has been corrected.
A lot of bands are taking the month of January to recoup, record, and
relax. So if you don't see your favorite band playing anywhere this month,
take the opportunity to check out a band you've never seen before! Who
knows, maybe you'll find a "new" favorite band!
Remember that all dates are subject to change, so please call first!! And
hey, if you get to talk to any of the bands...tell 'em Becky sent ya!! :)

Cancer research program, "Marijuana is the best available agent for
control of nausea in cancer chemotherapy." The same active ingredients in

Be sure to pick up your copy of Bela Fleck & the Flecktones "Greatest Hits
of the 20th Century". It features 2 previously unreleased tracks as well
as some of their best tunes! It was released 11/16 on Warner Brothers.
Ben Harper will be releasing his 3-CD Box Set on January 25. The set will
feature the re-release of Welcome to the Cruel World, Fight For Your Mind,
and The Will to Live. I can't wait to get my hands on this!
Medeski Martin & Wood are working on two new records. Wa-hoo! The first
one called "Tonic", was recorded live at Tonic in New York City, March
16 - 20, 1999. This record is 100% Acoustic Piano Trio and Medeski Martin
& Wood's first ever live release. It is expected to be released on April
28, 2000 by Blue Note Records.
Their second album, yet to be named, is expected to be completed in
February. This record will be released in late September 2000. More info
to come.
Deep Banana Blackout is in the studio this month to record a new album.

Tim Pacheco (vocals, percussion, trumpet) will no longer be performing
with Wise Monkey Orchestra in order to pursue other projects. Ed Fletcher
on drums and guitarist Scott Homan will also be departing. Bruce Stadola,
a longtime friend of the band and very talented drummer/percussionist,
Marty Schwartz, a highly skilled and versatile guitarist, and a variety of
horn players have been added to the line up.
ulu also has some line up changes. Guitarist Luca Bendetti has decided to
leave the band to pursue other interests.
Go out and see a show with these line up changes!
